Save the Youth by Ronald Wittington

Posted: April 16, 2010 in Poems
It’s so hard to express
the way that I feel,
because I know
I’ve been handed a raw deal.

Punishment for the youth
is never enough.
You send them off to prison
where they learn to be tough.

Their will you have not broken.
Only anger and hate do you instill.
Soon released upon society,
this time armed to kill.

condemned by their fellow brothers.
Held captive by their enemy.
The court’s failure
is their own stupidity.
