Troy by Chris G.

Troy, Troy, the tree lizard boy,

lives up in the top of the trees.

He never comes down onto the ground,

for up there is where he may see.

Once every May, he comes down for a day,

unless his shadow scares him away.

Then it’s back to the top of the trees that he flees.

He may try again one day next May.

Instead of look, you should listen

and you’ll hear him a-hissing,

if you need him for any reason,

do the tree lizard call

and from the tree he’ll fall

especially in tree lizard season.

Think it’s a joke; pine or oak,

or cypress, palm or birch.

He’ll get to the top of any tree that you got.

It’s not far that you’ll have to search.

But search if you might, search if you please.

You won’t have to get on hands and knees,

because if you’re looking for Troy the tree lizard boy,

he lives up in the top of the trees.
